By Jozy Caulfield PC: Anne PaolettiStep aside letterman jackets - the bomber jacket has taken over as it has gradually made its way to campus, transforming the good ole lettermen’s jacket into modern sophistication with golden zippers, shiny fabrics, and slimming cuts. As we know, this season has been terribly difficult to dress for with days ranging from the high 70’s to the lows of 20 degrees . . . where does one even begin to dress for days like that. The conclusion? Bomber jackets; transitional pieces guaranteed to give you just the right amount of coverage and style to stay chic and warm this season without the bulk of a winter jacket. The range of options for wearing bomber jackets is expansive. From a basic tee and leggings to a pair of skinnies and a schnazy top, bomber jackets can be worn in any way you please. My go-to look for wearing bomber jackets is as shown (sneakers, skinnies, crop top, simple statement necklace, and jacket) - a casual and simple look that’s perfect for a day out and about. Trends 101: Fashion Sneakers are SO in and are a trend I’ve grown to love as I’ve replaced outfits I’d normally wear heels with for my adidas sneakers (bought on amazon for $38, a style-steal!) adding comfort to some of my favorite go-to styles. Another popular option for wearing the bomber jacket trend is edgy, modern, and well put together pairing skinnies, a loose fitting top, heels and either a large blanket scarf or statement necklace. This look can take you anywhere from dinner to a night on the town. Looking to find your own perfectly fitting bomber jacket? Local boutiques such as Urban Violet, Primp, and Kittsona, are well stocked on the trend with several options to chose from. Style Tip: Although there are several colors, prints and patterns to chose from; opt for a bomber jacket that is more neutral to get the most use out of the piece - such as solid black, olive green, tan, or grey. By Jozy CaulfieldLooking for a little something extra to add to your fall/winter wardrobe? Look no further and stop where you are, because here we have the most transitional accessory of the season, floppy wool hats. These adorable pieces scream nothing less than cozy chic as they can be worn both casually to a lunch date or on a stroll through the isles of the city. Either way you chose to pair it your bound to turn heads. Thinking about statement pieces and all that they are, if I had to chose a favorite (although how could I!) I’d have to put floppy wool hats in my top three for sure - up with blanket scarves and chokers of course. These chic pieces are my go-to for adding a little something extra to an outfit. Although there are several options for wearing these cute little hats, one of my favorite styles is pairing my maroon floppy wool hat with some black leather jeggings, a flowy black top, booties, and a slimming black leather jacket. Yet on the other hand, another way I like to wear these hats is for the sole purpose of adding that last little bit of style to a simple outfit such as in the outfit featured. Style Tip: Curl your hair and tie it into a low side pony for a simple-casual look. Right now is the prime time to buy these hats as stores have recently put them out on the shelves for the transitioning of seasons. A majority of my own hats I’ve found at Target, although I’ve seen plenty of other options at H&M, TJ Maxx, Dry Goods and Urban Violet. With endless options of colors and styles, I have no doubt you’ll be able to find your very own floppy wool hat to flatter yourself this season!
By Jozy CaulfieldShow a little skin this fall, and don’t be the least bit ashamed of it. The cold shoulder style is in and it sure is one of a kind. So go ahead, give ‘em the shoulder and and show off this unique and classy peek-a-boo trend. This summer, we saw the return of off the shoulder tops (and discovered the crazy tan lines they leave too!) as just about everyone seemed to be working the style putting their own twist on the trend. Off the shoulder tops were a hit as they were easy to style from day to night and were versatile in their ability to be dressed up or down, making them a wearable piece for any occasion. Designers and retailers caught on fast, and have blessed us with the trend all over again by carrying the style into the cooler months, but this time have left a little bit more fabric, leaving us with “ the cold shoulder.” The cold shoulder trend, much like the off-the-shoulder style we saw this summer, can be worn in several different ways and for may different occasions too, whether it be a cozy sweater for class or a fitted long sleeve for an evening out. The key to this trend is confidence, and with that, you really can’t go wrong. Ready to hop on the trend? Head on over to your local mall and I can almost guarantee you’ll successfully find a cold shoulder top that’s just right for you as many retailers have begun to carry the trend. For more specifics, shop A'gaci, H&M, Forever 21 and Express. Check out some of my favorite cold shoulder styles (and I’ll admit, I scored all three of these featured tops at TJ Maxx and Marshalls!) and see for yourself just how fabulously unique this trend really is! The long sleeve - easily worn from day to night. Pair with dark wash jeans and little heeled booties for class or dress it up with a pair of leather pants and strappy black heels for a sleek and edgy style. Show a little skin, and perhaps just a little more with this skinny strap top - the ultimate go-to for a girls night out! Pair with black skinny jeans as well as black booties/heels and finish the look off with a statement silver earring. Pull off both cozy and cute with this oversized sweater. Wear it to class with a pair of jeans and boots or lounge around at home with a cup of coffee and pair it with some comfy leggings.
