Hello again! This week I decided to shoot some photos on Thanksgiving with my family, as we were all dressed up and ready for the day. The photos were taken on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul. In the photos, I am wearing a plaid printed jumpsuit. I bought this jumpsuit for Thanksgiving because I thought it was the perfect fall outfit that could be both dressed up and dressed down. I love this jumpsuit, as it can be worn in several different ways. I decided to wear my mustard sweater over the jumpsuit in order to stay warm. This jumpsuit could be worn going out, to a concert or music festival on a cooler summer day, or even on a cold winter day with tights and a turtleneck underneath it. Along with the jumpsuit and the mustard sweater, I wore shorter light brown boots and black fishnet crew socks. Whenever I am unsure of what shoes to wear, I put on these boots. I love these boots because they have a smaller heel to them, they are extremely comfortable, and they add a dressier look to an outfit. After the boots, the jumpsuit, and the mustard sweater, I still felt like the outfit was missing something. This is when I decided to wear my fishnet crew socks. These socks are great to throw on with a lower pair of boots or even a pair of tennis shoes. Lastly, I wore my cheetah print purse which added a different pattern to the outfit. I love this purse because it makes an outfit more bold and sassy. This purse can be worn with almost any article of clothing. Cheetah print is starting to appear on shoes, tshirts, fur coats, and and many more in the fashion market today. Hope you enjoy! Xoxo -Mia

Hello! My friend and I made a trip over to St. Anthony Falls, where we shot a few photos near the Stone Arch Bridge. In the photo above, I am wearing my “sock” fit, black boots with heels. Along with my black boots, I decided to wear my fringe jeans and a mustard sweater. Both of these pieces of clothing are perfect to wear on the warmer fall days (before the snow starts to stick). I always like to have at least one edgy piece of clothing per outfit; for this outfit I chose my fringe jeans as my edgy piece. Fringe jeans are very popular in the current fashion market, and they are very fun to wear! I am the type of girl that believes in the phrase, “you can never have too many sweaters”. I always find myself buying a different sweater everytime I go shopping. This mustard sweater is one of my favorite sweaters I own, as I am obsessed with the color and the bell sleeves. Along with fringe jeans, bell sleeve sweaters are also very popular in the fashion market today, adding more of a “boho chic” look to an outfit. Mustard is by far my favorite color to wear in the fall!

Hello Fashionistas! With winter approaching, it is time to bring out the warm and fluffy sweaters! Today, my friend and I shot a few photos on the streets of Minneapolis while snowflakes were slowly falling to the ground. On this snowy day, I decided to wear one of my most recent buys, a white fluffy sweater. I have never owned such a cozy, soft sweater as this one. I love this sweater because it goes with everything, and can be dressed up or dressed down. I also decided to wear my pair of my light-wash boyfriend jeans, adding a more casual touch to the outfit. Along with my sweater and boyfriend jeans, I put on my favorite pair of black boots, which have a “sock” fit to them and a high heel. These boots are very in style, as they are seen all over social media and in many stores today. I love these boots because they go with everything and are extremely comfortable! Lastly, I chose to wear a vintage black purse to match my black boots.
Hope you enjoy! Xoxo -Mia Neeha Bondalapati is a fellow Fashion & Business Club member that knows how to work it in front of the camera. According to the photographer Jerusa, this street style shoot was inspired by “how lively the weather has been. Spring has sprung and we decided to go out and shoot. I wanted a natural shoot that capture Neeha naturally in a way people haven’t seen her.” The images give off a street style vibe, with a sense of a natural embodiment. Neeha looks effortless as she poses among the Minneapolis skyline. The wardrobe is athleisure chic with black ripped denim, a one-shoulder tank, and an oversized flannel. Her hair has a mind of its own as it flows in the wind. I loved the look of this shoot as there is no need for heavy makeup or a sense of having to plan out each shot. The collection of images also showcases Minneapolis and the famous Bob Dylan wall facing the corner of 5th and Hennepin Ave. The sneakers complete the look with the fresh image of the bright white. I really enjoyed the Adidas Tubulars. These shoes are the embodiment of functionality and fashion. Nike in the past has been the clear winner when it came to stylish sneakers, but lately they have had some competition. Adidas has been up amongst the number one spot as well. The company has really been looking into their brand strategy. According to GQ, Adidas’s overall sneaker sales jumped 80% in 2016 (Woolf, 2017). A big factor of the sales increases have been collaboration such as Kanye West with the Yeezy Boosts. But do not worry, if you fit in the poor college student category there are many look alikes to the Yeezy Boosts. (Thank you fast fashion). Jerusa has an eye-catching instagram. The cohesion and uniqueness shows an urban fashion oriented aesthetic. Photographer Information & Social Media Handles:

It had been raining off and on all week, but thankfully the sun was out shining all day on Sunday. The perfect weather allowed myself to pick out a fun spring outfit. My dress is by Lilly Pulitzer. I love the subtle hints of sparkles, and the subtle hint of detailing with the stripes. This style of dress is under the category of special occasion dress for Lilly. Although the brand’s merchandise assortment has varying beautiful floral patterns across most dresses, I felt as if those were too busy for this occasion. The floral combinations also do not scream Minnesota (snow in April!). As for accessories, I paired the dress with a hat that is actually a beach hat. This floppy hat is from Target and originally I purchased it to be a sun hat. But, I was going for a derby feel, and felt that it was still fitting with the stripes. The heels then go on to coordinate with the hat with the mutual navy tones. If you are ever looking for a new pair of heels or wedges, I highly recommend the lace-up style. The thicker wedge and support of the shoe on the sides and the laces creates comfort. These shoes do not instill that terrible pain after wearing them for over an hour. Lastly, I paired the look with some diamond studs from Francesca's, and an array of Alex & Ani bracelets. As for Pat, he is wearing a bright orange Nautica button up. Most people shy away from orange, especially individuals with lighter skin complexions. Although he does not have a tan skin tone to contrast against the orange, the color is very fitting for this holiday. Because my outfit is so neutral, he brings out the bright and fun colors in the easter basket. Due to the boldness of the shirt, pairing the ensemble with Calvin Klein khaki pants creates the right amount of contrasting colors. This spring, bring in some color! Whether it is into your wardrobe or a friends, try something new. Do not be afraid to pop in something that may have a more southern feel with the bright colors and patterns, because the sun is here to stay now… hopefully. Joggers, sweat pants, Adidas pants, the list goes on and on as the athleisure has been expanding as a fashion trend. I was inspired for this look by a mannequin at Target dressed by the Who What Wear brand. The outfit was more of a literal track suit, but it had a cute top and a purse along with it. I wanted to recreate this look with items that I already had at home. Because the athletic pants were kind of dull, I decided to incorporate a pop of yellow in both my heels and jacket. Overall the look was somewhat of a foreign concept to me because I have never once worn sweatpants to class amongst my college career. It brings a cool new casual yet fashionable aesthetic to my wardrobe. Staying comfortable while looking the part is very much a win-win situation. Celebrities have been taking on this look left and right. You can find any of the Kardashians rocking this. As well as Selena Gomez, and Rihanna (with her Puma shoe line of course). Looking put together yet “I just rolled out of bed” is what I was getting from their looks. But of course we know most celebs take full advantage of their glam teams before stepping out into the public. Full face of makeup or not, this look is the perfect combination for a saturday out running errands, or a coffee date downtown. My Look: Pants: Charlotte Russe (clearance rack at $5.00 #amazing) Jacket: Von Maur Heels: Amazon Fashion -- there are actually so many brands and merchandise assortments on Amazon, I would highly recommend check it out When I picture Juicy Couture, it brings me back to the early high school days when everyone had to have the velour and terrycloth matching tracksuits. Juicy was obnoxious to say the least with large velour bags that said “Juicy” across them, or even sayings such as “I like Things.” (My Mother was so confused as to why I needed things with Juicy plastered all over them, but hey she went with it). The one thing I will never forget were the ginormous charm bracelets. I mean these things were so chunky there is no way someone could ever argue that they were practicalo when it came to having to write all day in class. But when a trend is a trend, you pick which pieces go along with your own personal aesthetic. JuicyCouture&UrbanOutfitters: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?id=JUICY#/ Juicy Couture & Vetements: http://vetementswebsite.com/ Juicy Couture itself: http://www.juicycouture.com/women-dresses-jumpsuits/l/102 Juicy & Kohl’s: https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-2849811/womens-juicy-couture-embellished-velour-hoodie-jacket.jsp?ci_mcc=ci&utm_campaign=JUICY%20COUTURE&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=google&utm_product=61939318&CID=shopping15&gclid=CLuo59Xv9tICFcm4wAodj10NrQ&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CIa0_dXv9tICFVNOAQodXtQO-g We all know what Urban Outfitters is, but what is Vetements? Vetements is European, Parisian to be exact. Vetements is also basically a design collective to sum it up. The leader of this is named Demna Gvasalia, who previously worked for Balenciaga. Fun fact: Vetements translates to “clothes” and is pronounced “Vet-MAHN” But, don’t go racing to add these items to your cart as they aren’t exactly part of the college budget as you need to drop at least a grand to buy something. What I Do Not Understand: How can Juicy be priced at $129.00 for a hoodie at Urban Outfitters, and then $29.99 on sale at Kohl’s when they look EXACTLY THE SAME… Typically when brands do the whole off-price sector of their brand, you can easily tell the difference just by looking at it. But I must say, Urban does have some more streetwear oriented pieces vs. Kohl’s. I remember the days when I would save up $78.00 at Bergdorfs to get one short sleeved juicy jacket. But, now they are more affordable and reasonable as some hoodies are down to $54.00 at Urban. What Brittany is wearing: She is bringing out street style at it’s finest pairing this red Juicy Couture X Urban Outfitters hoodie dress with some tights. I absolutely love these tights which are also from UO, as they also make you do a double take looking like tall socks as well. The mix of the sexier tights with the more rugged hoodie is the perfect combo. The pop of red also goes perfectly with these Gucci sneakers that she finished the look with. (These she got studying abroad at a Gucci outlet). Overall I give this look an A as Juicy has toned down their look. The “Los Angeles” in the front discreetly is so much better than having JUICY across the chest. Denim has been huge lately, along with adding in fishnets for some added detail. Keshuana took a spin on this trending idea with adding normal black tights instead of fishnets. The abundance of laces makes up for the lack of detail and pattern in the tights. She has paired the bottom of the look with a tucked in black tank and black leather jacket. The leather jacket has diamond detailing along with arms helping to differentiate it from the main bodice of the jacket. The subtle tones of the brown and gold jewelry flow cohesively with the rest of the look. Her nails are a beautiful coffin shape in a robins egg blue. You can never have too many rips in your jeans: These jeans from A&F are great for so many different seasons. If it is a warmer day, the large holes throughout the fabric can cool you down. As for a colder day, the tights add a little extra layer of warmth. The great thing about this is that you can add your own flair. Whether you want to add some color under the rips or some patterned tights, your legs are your canvas. You can also cover up the tears or show them off with sandals or heels. The best part of these jeans, is that you can turn an old or used pair into these! Start ripping away. The only incentive to buying jeans this ripped is to have that great added fringe at the edge of each fabric line. Do not be afraid to try something new! Try out some tights, and or ripped denim this spring. Fishnets were a trend of the 90s, and now they are back and better than ever. The twist on fishnets in 2017: there is not one set “look” that fishnets need to be worn with, and various colors of the tights can achieve this look as well.
Various levels of coverage for the fishnets: -Just peeking through at the ankles of some jeans and booties -Seen down the legs through some aggressively ripped jeans -Worn with shorts -Worn with a skirt -Worn with a dress -Shown above the jean (or whatever pant you choose) waist-line with a crop top The 90s version of this trend had a more grunge and street style aesthetic to them. But now, fishnets can be chic. Check out Who What Wear’s gallery of chic photos with these tights! http://www.whowhatwear.com/how-wear-fishnets As for my look, I wanted to embody more of the street-style look to wearing fishnets. Instead of going with the normal black coloring, I found these light blue fishnets at Forever 21. They also have a much larger width to them in comparison to the original look. (It was so hard to get them on carefully without sticking a toe in the wrong spot and ripping them!) Paired with them are some Forever 21 light wash distressed jeans, a Forever 21 crop top, and some Sam Edelman booties. My favorite part about this look was having the fishnets pop out at the ankles. This is a subtle detail that adds a lot to the ensemble! Although this outfit in particular is a little aggressive for a typical school day (and the 25 degree weather), I wanted to emphasize the look of the fishnets when they are worn high-waisted. The best part about this trend? Mix and Match! There are endless different ways to spice up your look with some fun tights. The best part? They are cheap! At Marshall’s I found some tights for $2.00 in the clearance bin. Look around at various retailers, ask a friend for theirs, but definitely add some fishnets to your wardrobe this spring. Walk into any fast fashion retailer and you will see patches galore. This summer the trend was just starting to emerge. When patches first started to enter merchandise assortments, there were a few here and there. In the accessory, and or check out aisles you would be able to purchase a pin and or iron on patch set separately. These were still pretty pricey at about $14.00-$70.00 a piece depending on the retailer. But now, Forever 21 has taken this trend to a whole new level. Walk around the store, and it is hard to find something that does not have a patch or embroidered logo on it. Guess what? The prices have gone down significantly. Now you can get a bomber jacket, jean jacket, skirt, shirt, the list goes on and on for the price of $20.00 or even less! Cons of this: You can no longer show your own personal aesthetic through the patches and pins that you choose because they already are pre chosen! I personally am not a huge fan of the flowers and tigers on everything. My Purse: This is part of Betsey Johnson’s Trolls line for the film Her Trolls line has a lot of fun fluffy items, in mainly pink, blue, and black. They are all on mega clearance at Macy’s right now: https://www.macys.com/shop/featured/betsey-johnson-trolls I was attracted to it due to how the eyes just lure you in! The small sparkly handle was also fun and different. I decided to pair it with a black and gold lace dress and some yellow shoes to add a pop of color. These shoes are knock-off Valentinos, but look pretty similiar to me ;) The real deal is only $950.00 more. Lastly to complete this look I added some David Yurman sunglasses that have a slight cat wing to them. They go along with the diva-esque look. This spring: Add some pops of color and patches into your wardrobe! |
